As you’ve probably noticed, both the blog and mobile blog have gone quiet recently. Here we feel is the right time to announce the Official Closure of The Tech Square Blog. On behalf of myself I would like to thank the whole team for their positive attitudes and efforts towards the blog, and also the dedicated fans who have been here ever since moment one.
But why exactly are we closing? Ever since the start, I myself and my fellow director here at TechSquare (Andrew) had a dream of becoming YouTube blogger’s. One of our ideas in our business plan was to produce an informative technology website; we successfully managed this. However, the whole idea came with limitations; the blog was very time consuming, we had international staff causing a lack of communication; overall, we couldn’t focus on our dream of producing a successful YouTube channel, it was being overridden by producing this blog.
I myself felt that we as a team we’re being held back by the Tech Square Blog. This is the reason to our conclusion of closing down the Tech Square blog, we hope to leap forward in 2013 with a new business plan.
Once again, I would like to thank the team and all our fans for being there for us, it’s given us the spirit to proceed into the future.

Yesterday, Apple released the date for their media event with this poster:
As you can see, the shadow of the twelve is shown as a 5, which suggests the upcoming iPhone 5! This is a major excitement for the tech world, and we sure do hope Apple doesn’t let us down, like for the 4S!
While plenty of handsets will be getting the Android 4.1 update Jelly Bean, it seems devices only a year old could be missing out, and Sony is first to break the news, that most of the devices in 2011 will not receive Google’s latest and greatest Android operating system.
Are you disappointed by this news? What phone do you currently own, and is it getting the all important update?
With Europe getting the 3DS XL this weekend, and Japan getting the 3DS XL/LL plus New Super Mario Bros 2, it’s hard not to be a Nintendo fan. Both items are available to pre-order at many retailers, with the 3DS XL available for as low as £160, and Game giving free Coin Cases for New Super Mario Bros 2, being on Nintendo’s side is really looking nice for the time being!
Let us know if you are getting the 3DS XL, which colour? And are you going to pick up New Super Mario Bros 2 when it hits shelves later in August?
Nintendo has a crisis with the 3DS at the beginning of it’s release, not shipping many consoles, and a £229 price tag that you could even get an Xbox or PS3 and also a couple games, which many thought had ‘doomed’ Nintendo.
This wasn’t true, Nintendo gave the console a much needed price drop, and Nintendo has gone on to sell nearly 20 million systems.
And Nintendo has annouced that all 3DS’ sold from now on will be sold at a profit, due to lower manufacturing costs.
That said. The 3DS XL and the Wii U, should also be great for Nintendo, as well as all the great Wii, DS, 3DS and Wii U games coming out in the next 6 months.
In the last day or so, we’ve heard about two new 3DS colours, a new blue, and a new pink, so now we’re going to give you the most relavent information regarding these two new colours!
The blue one will be called ‘Cerulean Blue’ and ‘Shimmer Pink’
The console will be first available in Hong Kong or Taiwan.
That’s all we’ve got for now, seriously, that’s all we know.
However these colours may replace the Aqua Blue and Coral Pink if they do arrive in the UK, seems a bit silly having the same colour twice in different shades, the Aqua Blue has already seen rumours regarding its future in the past.
It’s official, kinda, Modern Warfare 3 will be recieving the massively talked about Terminal Map from Modern Warfare 2.
MW2 has some of my all time favourite maps, Highrise, Terminal, Scrapyard, Quarry, the list goes on, and It’s nice to see a start for the maps to be transferred to the newer and better games, maybe Black Ops will give some maps to the sequel, we already know about Nuke Town 2025, which is a free map for pre-ordered copies only!
Fan of Monsters Inc? Well the prequel to that film, ‘Monsters University’ has now got it’s on UK Facebook page, if you want to be apart of the Facebook UK fan page, hit the ‘like’ button on the page, and don’t forget to share out profile picture to get the news flowing over Facebook.
The Wii U have recieved mixed reviews since we heard more about it at E3 earlier this week at E3, and from a UK shop ‘ShopTo’, they have listed the price of both black and white consoles for £279.85.
This may be a bit of a steep price for now, but it should most definately come down, as the company selling the product would not want to start it too low, as the price of the actual product may be more than they have listed it, which may confuse customers.
Earlier, Apple have released the date for the WWDC Keynote as June 11th! We hope to see new products around this time and possibly the new iPhone 5! If the tickets are sold out, Apple have released an app on the iTunes store that can be downloaded for this event. I hope some of you can attend and get the full experience!
Two iPhones are reportedly currently in testing over at Apple – codenamed N41AP (or 5,1) and N42AP (5,2). They are enclosed in generic cases to hide the design and offer larger displays with a higher resolution.
The exact specs of the new display are 3.95″ diagonal and 640 x 1136 pixel resolution. Those numbers suggest a pixel density of around 330 ppi, which is nearly identical to the 329 ppi on the iPhone 4 and 4S, so the “Retina” moniker will remain intact. The hypothesis is that the screen will still measure 4.93 cm in width but at 8.76 cm it will be notably taller than the one on current-gen iPhone.
If this information turns out true it will mean that the next iPhone will sport an aspect ratio of 16:9 and not the current 3:2 one . The bigger display would also require the upcoming iOS 6 to be optimized to fit more content on the bigger screen. Supposedly Apple is currently testing a custom build of iOS 6 with a fifth row of icons above the docked ones.
Finally, reports are coming in that the next-gen iPhone will retain the home button (but perhaps it will be reduced in size) and utilize a smaller dock connector. We’ll have to wait and see what the iPhone 5 (or the new iPhone, sigh) will actually be, but one thing is certain – with the huge screens fitted on the latest Android flagships many iPhone users are rightfully starting to feel a little jealous and it’s about time Apple did something about it.
Note: The image is just a mockup and not representative of the final product.
