No more Beats headphones with HTC phones in future!

Hey! I’m new here, in TechSquare. My name is James and I love Android, Linux and whole technology stuff :-)

But maybe let’s focus on the main point of this article.

Yeah, that’s sad but also true. High Tech Computer Corporation (better known as HTC) recently announced their revenues and as you think they are really bad. Worse even than earlier one (decrease 35% now, earilier 20%). 15% in such a short period of time.

Anyway… we’re not talking about financial issues in Taiwan corporation but about their products and co-operation with Dr. Dre. As everybody knows, HTC adds to their phones with Beats technology Dr. Dre’s headphones. For example on-ear white Beats Solo are a ‘bonus’ to HTC Sensation XL.  But now phone manufacturer wants to save money what is not surprising for me. Now HTC’s Martin Fichter has stated to CNET that “an accessory like the headphone doesn’t factor in when someone is buying a smartphone.” So if anybody wants Beats headphones, has to buy it on his own. That’s not cheap. For Beats Solo on eBay we have to pay about $150. And new Sensation XL for about $600. It’s too expensive for normal user like me.

HTC announced yesterday new EVO 4G for Sprint with Beats technology inside, ‘cuz they won’t discontinue co-operation with Dre, but not seems to have Beats headphones in the box with the phone. Too bad. Worst thing is even that EVO will be as expensive without Dr. Dre’s headphones as with it. Don’t you think so?

In my humble opinion it will decrease HTC revenues basically because people would like to have a good phone and good headphones with it. Buying phone and then headphones like Beats are misunderstand. Or maybe I’m wrong.

Leave comment below. I’m interested what do you think about HTC strategy for the next months.

  1. So disappointed about this! I love the Beats Audio in my HTC Sensation. It should definitely stay on the phone, it makes it stand out from the rest of the handsets on the market
